My friend Carlos gave me a canvas that used to belong to an artist who died of Aids. The artist had started a painting that unfortunately he never could finish. I was going to toss the canvas away and re use the stretcher with a new canvas but after a few months of looking at the unfinished work the idea of doing homage to this unknown artist suddenly came to my mind.

Since he was totally unknown to me I portrayed him as I see him in my imagination.
